Happy
2nd update: Happy is a perfect fit with us, I cant imagine a better
dog/friend. Happy's bone aggression is greatly improving - we are
pleased with her progress. Her little food aggression is almost
extinct. She loves hiking and seems to be in her element when we are
on the mountain trails. People stop us all of the time and ask what
kind of dog she is, they all say she is the cutest most unusual
happy dog they have ever met, we then tell them her name and they
all say it fits her perfectly.
We just wanted to give you an update on Happy (formerly known as
Maddie).
She made the incredible journey back to Colorado with us, she was a
fantastic traveler and loves to go for rides in the car. Happy's
personality has drastically changed since our first meeting, she
acts much more like a puppy now. She is such a sweet dog, even
though she is a big dog she believes that she belongs on our lap,
she is on mine as I am typing this to you. She is great with our
kids, when in the back yard her instinct to herd kicks in and she
herds
the kids all around the yard. I have caught her snuggling up with
our cat (don't tell her canine friends there that she is in cohorts
with a feline) but they really like each other. Happy and her new
sister dog Vivienne, our French Bulldog are getting along pretty
good, they run and play chase me in the back yard, however there are
some issues, mainly over bones, we are working with Happy and are
very careful to keep them separated if a bone is out, do you have
any suggestions on helping this possession aggression? We will start
obedience with her in a few weeks so I am hoping this will let her
know that we are the boss and also hoping to teach her some basic
commands, sit, stay & most importantly come.
Happy L O V E S the water, we noticed her webbed feet and took her
swimming in Balsam Lake, she was in heaven, the first thing she did
when we got to our Colorado home was jump in the kids swimming pool,
they think she is the coolest dog ever - me too! This weekend we are
planning a trip to the mountains, Happy will have her first hiking
experience, I know she will be great as she walks terrific on a
leash. Like all relationships no one is perfect, but with a little
hard work and dedication they can be very rewarding, this is our
thought about Happy. I believe in fate and I know she was meant to
be with us, thank you for letting us adopt her. We all look forward
to our future with Happy as part of our family
Sincerely,
Melissa
