Lucy
Hi Brenda,
I just wanted to let you know that Gretel (who was named Lucy at
Northwoods) is doing great! She and Montague (the golden
retriever we have) get along so well together.
They love playing together. In fact, he is SO tolerant of her
puppy bites at his mouth and ears...she could do anything to him
and he's just thrilled to have a little friend to play with.
They wrestle together...share toys with one another (and even
like playing "tug of war" with one another with one particular
toy)...and run outside together.
She's following her big "brother" and learning how to go to the
bathroom outside (although she does have a few accidents in the
house...that's okay though...she's learning very quickly).
Gretel sleeps on the bed at night with Montague and sometimes a
cat or two (the more curious ones...especially once she's asleep
and they can check out who this new puppy is).
The girls (Sophia and Olivia) have been really enjoying having
Gretel be a part of the family. Sophia (the oldest one) takes
Gretel on little walks on our nature trail...and Olivia likes
playing with Gretel and showing her all her puppy toys.
We took Gretel to Osceola Veterinary Service today, and Tim (Dr.
Johnson) said she looked great. Very healthy. Wonderful
disposition. After the unexpected death of our almost 13 year
old dog, Casey, last month...he said he was curious to see who
would join our family and when. Knowing our family, he said
Gretel appears to be the perfect dog...and newest member of the
family.
Attached are some pictures that I thought you may enjoy.
Thank you again for taking such good care of Gretel while she
was with you. Our thanks also to every volunteer and staff
person who helped us in the adoption process...and who nurtured
Gretel during her first few weeks of life.
Have a great day,
Ann R.
Both dogs resting.
Gretel with her bone.
