Roscoe

Last November, when I adopted a dog from your shelter, I was told on my way out the door that you like pictures and updates about the rehomed pets.  I have always meant to send you pictures of our new family member, however, our good boy happens to be very very camera shy.  I finally snuck some pic's when he wasn't paying attention and just got them developed off a disposable.  (actually, if you even try to back him into a corner to try to get a picture, he will pee on the floor, go figure)  Nonetheless, through all of his quarks, no doubt caused by trauma from previous owners, he has fit in very nicely in our family, he has gained 10 pounds at least and thinks the couch was made just for him, even though he doesn't fetch and doesn't even look at a Frisbee (definitely part newfie), he couldn't be sweeter, or more therapeutic in this crazy world.  You called him Roscoe I think, he was a favorite around there, we named him TED or Teddy Bear for long...and it so fits him, he is so snuggly.

We have a lot of funny stories about all of his strange traits and behavior, we cannot begin to guess what he has been through in the past, sometime he seems like he must have RULED THE ROOST at his old home, like a KING who thinks our bed and couch are his right, and other times he is so skittish and afraid of everything, it is like he must have been beaten regularly wherever he came from.  He does not like being alone out in our huge kennel, even on nice weather days, he will whine and beg to come back in the house.  He never begs for food at the table, just sits underneath to be with us, if something scares him, he hides in our basement, which is often but he has free rein to come up when he is ready to hang with us.  We have two children that love to pet and hug him, and he loves to watch them in all of their activity, but never really wants to join the fun.  He is just one MELLO FELLOW.

However, he is a great walking buddy, very good on a leash and I have brought him to public areas where there are people, children and other dogs and he is very content to sit and let anyone come up and pet him, kids just flock to him and his gorgeous coat and all of his fluffiness,  He is very long and a striking looking guy. I just wanted to update you on our Ted, he is safe and happy, we will adopt another shelter dog someday, maybe one that plays keep away and tug o war, but for now were are contented and blessed to have our buddy, in our laps, all 82 pounds of him.

God bless you and keep you for all your hard work for those furry angels.

Thanks so much, The Johnson Family especially Theadore Barius Johnson(Teddy Bear)
