Sophie
I have been meaning to do this for years and am finally getting around to it.;I thought I'd share how happy we are with Sophie, our 5 1/2 year old Lab/White Sheppard mix, we adopted from Northwoods in February 2004. We adopted Sophie when she was a 10-week-old, rambunctious puppy. We live in Minneapolis, so we immediately took her to the Animal Humane Society in Golden Valley for obedience classes. With a lot of work, Sophie learned to sit for everything she needs/wants, such as breakfast (which we call all meals), going outside, treats, and even pets. She is extremely social and loves going to the dog park to run and get out the "zoomies." I have trained for the Breast Cancer 3Day Walk two years in a row and Sophie goes on all my training walks seven miles or less. Sophie loves her cat sister, Casey, but unfortunately Casey really doesn't care for Sophie. It is definitely a love/hate relationship between the two and is comical watching them trying to play/ignore each other. She loves vegetables and fruit, giving us kisses, chasing squirrels (and, thankfully not catching them), treats, her grandma, running through snow, and a good rawhide bone. She is a very active and well behaved dog. We could not have imagined adopting a better pet than her. We truly have been blessed with her in our lives. When she was initially brought to your shelter, she needed a cast on her paw due to a couple of broken toes, so she was in a foster home for a few weeks before she was ready for adoption. Luckily, the foster families also fostered Sophie's siblings, and somehow, we have been able to keep in touch with the girls of the family. We exchanged pictures with them every so often and it's amazing how similar they all look. Even though it's been several years, I thought you would still like to hear how good one of your "babies" is doing. I've attached a few photos of Sophie. Again, thank you for allowing us to adopt her! Tracy and Curt
