Squash and Cranberry

Hi,
I'm writing to the foster mom of kittens Squash and Cranberry.  I adopted them on Friday and want to send an update.  We renamed them Roxie and Rainie.  They are doing very well here at our house.  I have a downstairs room set up for them, but already they want to get out and run around the rest of the house.  They are very playful and full of energy.  My kids just love them.  I've been working on supervised introduction with our dogs, black lab mixes.  One of the dogs, the laid-back one, is really good with the cats.  He's friendly and not overly interested.  The other dog, the energetic one, is friendly, and wants to play with them, so we are working on teaching him to treat them.

We are having lots of fun with them.  I'll send another update after the vet appointment.

Thanks,
Heather

UPDATE:

Charlotte,

Thank YOU for putting the time and energy into raising the kittens.  They are both very well socialized.  They had their vet visit yesterday and are doing very well.

Rainie is up to 4 pounds and Roxie is up to 3.5 pounds. They both have their own personalities.  Rainie is very friendly.  She is always around and purring.  She is the explorer.  I think she has checked out almost every inch of our house now.  She really likes our dogs and tries  to snuggle up with them they are laying down.  One of the dogs (the laid-back one), will either roll onto his back or get up and move.  She’ll often move with him to snuggle up again.  The other dog, the energetic one, is more interactive with the cats and has learned to be gentle (mostly).  Rainie will put her head right into the dogs food dish when they are eating, and they don’t like that, so I have to watch her.  She also gets playful and bites the dogs feet and nose.  So far they’ve been able to figure it out themselves.

Roxie is more of the wild one.  She spends a lot of the day sleeping out of sight and when she comes out, she is ready to play.  She likes to attack things and I have to keep her claws clipped.  She has a sweet side and lets the kids hold her for a while and after the kids go to bed she likes to curl up with the dogs too.

Thanks again,

Heather
